While early stages of AMD may show no symptoms, as it progresses, you may experience sight distortion, decrease in brightness of colors, gradual or sudden vision loss, or dark, blurry areas in the center of your vision. We offer cutting-edge treatment options to slow the progression of AMD.
As a complication related to diabetes, diabetic retinopathy causes damage to your retina. Severe manifestations may present as blurred, distorted vision, difficulty reading, challenges with color perception, floaters, or shadows across your vision. It is often asymptomatic until its end stages.
While retinal diseases vary, most of them cause visual symptoms and can affect any part of your retina, the thin layer of tissue that lines the back of the eye. Many retina diseases share common symptoms, including: seeing floaters, having blurred or distorted vision, defects in peripheral vision, decreased night or central vision, or loss of vision.
When your retina, the thin inner lining of the eye, gets torn, patients may suddenly experience experience an onset of black spots or floaters as well as flashes of light. Retinal tears pose a risk of retinal detachment and severe loss of vision. While there are several risk factors, there is ultimately no way to predict who may develop a retinal tear or when it may happen.
In posterior vitreous detachment (PVD), a common condition with age, the gel filling the eyeball separates from the retina. Symptoms include seeing floaters or flashes of light, which commonly fades over time. While not painful or sight-threatening, it's important to see an eye specialist right away.
Central retinal vein occlusion occurs when the main vein that drains blood from the retina closes off, often causing blurred vision and other eye problems. Patients with branch retinal vein occlusion may have a sudden, yet painless, loss of vision. However, it may go unnoticed if the area isn't in the center of the eye.
